A tragic chain of events has left a family devastated after John Haliburton was shot and killed, reportedly by his own cousin, Gibson Tramonte Terrell.

According to police, the incident began at the Azure Estates complex, where a dispute escalated into violence. Investigators allege that Terrell, 20, asked Haliburton to bring a firearm to the scene—only to then use that same weapon to open fire.

Haliburton was killed in the shooting, while four others were also injured.

Authorities say the violence did not stop there. After fleeing the scene, Terrell allegedly carried out a carjacking along MLK Jr. Boulevard, during which three more people were shot.

Law enforcement later tracked him down on Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County, where he was taken into custody. Police say he confessed following his arrest.

Terrell is now facing multiple serious charges, including:

  • First-degree murder

  • Four counts of attempted murder

  • Armed carjacking

The tragedy has been made even more heartbreaking by the fact that Haliburton had just welcomed a newborn daughter, who will now grow up without her father.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
