The mysterious death of 18-year-old Florida teen Anna Kepner aboard the Carnival Horizon has sparked widespread public concern, with many questioning whether her death was natural or the result of foul play.
Anna, from Titusville, was traveling with her family on a six-day Caribbean cruise when she was reported dead as the ship sailed between Mexico and Florida. Her body was later discovered wrapped in blankets, covered with life jackets, and hidden under her cabin bed, according to multiple reports.
When the ship returned to the Port of Miami, the FBI boarded immediately, but investigators have not released any details about what led to Anna’s death, increasing speculation online.
On Monday, a man claiming to be Anna’s uncle posted on social media alleging that Anna’s younger stepbrother was involved, claiming she had been beaten, wrapped in blankets, and shoved under the bed.
Another Facebook user claimed the minor was removed from the cruise “in cuffs,” though these claims remain unverified by law enforcement.
The publisher notes these online allegations have not been confirmed and are among many rumors circulating as the public awaits official answers.
Teen Told Family She Felt Sick Before Disappearing
Sources say Anna mentioned feeling unwell during dinner on November 6, then returned to her cabin to rest. The following morning, when her father, Christopher Kepner, and stepmother, Shauntel Hudson, gathered the family for breakfast, Anna was nowhere to be found.
Despite the family searching the massive 4,000-passenger ship, her body wasn’t discovered until a cabin steward entered to clean the room around 11 a.m. on November 7.
Reports claim she was found wrapped tightly in blankets, covered with life jackets, and hidden under the bed—details her father and the FBI have declined to discuss.
Family Says They Have Been Given No Answers
Christopher says authorities have shared almost nothing with the family.
“We were all questioned. We all got off the ship. But the FBI hasn’t told me anything,” he said.
“We’re waiting for answers just like everyone else.”
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner recorded Anna’s time of death as 11:17 a.m., but did not specify the cause or location.
The lack of transparency has led to intense speculation on Reddit, Facebook, and TikTok.
Anna’s father said the family has had to withdraw from the internet entirely because of the attention.
Anna was set to graduate high school in May and hoped to join the military. She grew up with her father, her stepmom Tabitha, and her younger siblings before her dad remarried Shauntel, who has three children of her own.
Anna loved travel and had been on previous cruises. A TikTok clip shows her enjoying the same ship months earlier, captioned: “I wanna go back.”
Due to the active investigation, an FBI spokesperson says no additional information will be released at this time.
