Police in Memphis have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred over the weekend in the Mitchell Heights neighborhood.
According to the Memphis Police Department, the suspect, Corey Boyd, has been charged with first-degree murder following the fatal shooting of Michael Owens Jr.
Authorities say the incident took place shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday along Buchanan Avenue, near Jackson Avenue. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and later confirmed that Owens had been shot and killed.
Boyd was taken into custody and formally charged in the case. Officials have not yet confirmed whether he will be granted bond or when he is scheduled to appear in court for the first time.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
