A break-in early Tuesday morning in Tulsa ended in a fatal shooting after a man allegedly forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
Officers responded around 2:45 a.m. to reports of gunfire at a residence near 124th Terrace and Kingston Avenue. When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Sean Six suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.
What investigators say happened
Detectives say the situation began when Six arrived at the home where his ex-girlfriend was staying with a male friend. Police believe he initially tried to enter through a window but was unsuccessful.
Investigators say he then kicked in the front door and forced his way inside the residence.
According to police, the woman had previously asked the male friend to stay with her because she feared possible retaliation following their breakup with Six.
When Six entered the home, the friend fired a single shot, striking him in the chest.
Investigation ongoing
The person who fired the gun was detained and questioned by homicide detectives but was later released while the investigation continues. Authorities have not announced any arrests at this time and say they are still reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Meanwhile, some friends of Sean Six have spoken publicly, saying they believe the situation was unjust and calling for further investigation into the events leading up to the shooting.
Police say the case remains under active investigation.
