West Sayville Teen Fatally Shot by Ex-Boyfriend in Nesconset; Suspect Survives Self-Inflicted Gunshot

An 18-year-old West Sayville woman, Emily Finn, was shot and killed by her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend inside his Nesconset, Long Island home on Wednesday, Nov. 26, according to Suffolk County Police. The teen boy, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, then allegedly shot himself in the face. His parents immediately called 911.

Emergency responders pronounced Finn dead at the scene around 11:10 a.m. The suspect was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical but stable condition. Authorities say he will face a second-degree murder charge once he is medically able to be arraigned.

Police report that Finn had arrived at the home to return the teen’s belongings following their recent breakup. Finn, a June graduate of Sayville High School, was a freshman at SUNY Oneonta studying Childhood and Elementary Education with a minor in Dance.
