A 19-year-old Wyoming woman, identified as the daughter of a local police chief, is facing a felony animal abuse charge for allegedly poisoning her former best friend’s dog with antifreeze.
Allie Erspamer is accused of killing a pit bull named Lily in April, shortly after moving out of the home she shared with her roommate and longtime friend, Hallie Blake. Blake contacted Sweetwater County Sheriff’s officials when the dog suddenly began suffering unexplained seizures, collapsing, and vomiting. A veterinarian later told the family that Lily showed signs of poisoning, and despite costly treatment attempts, the dog was eventually put down.
A necropsy conducted at the State Veterinary Crime Lab confirmed the presence of antifreeze in Lily’s system. Court documents also claim Erspamer expressed dislike for the dog and allegedly sent Snapchat messages admitting she gave Lily treats sprayed with bleach. She is also accused of using Snapchat’s AI assistant to search how to poison a dog and avoid detection.
Erspamer, charged in October and released on bond, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on November 26. Due to her father’s position as Rock Springs Police Chief, the case is being handled by an external judge and prosecutor.
Despite public criticism aimed at her father, Blake defended him, saying he has always been supportive and should not be blamed for his daughter’s alleged actions.
