Cia Edmonds shared an emotional message from Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where her 12-year-old daughter, Maya, is undergoing treatment for critical injuries sustained in the recent school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. According to Edmonds, Maya suffered gunshot wounds to the head and neck and is currently fighting for her life.

“Today started as any other,” Edmonds wrote. “Now my 12-year-old daughter is fighting for her life while they try to repair the damage… This doesn’t even feel real. I never thought I would be asking for prayers, but please, please pray for my baby.” She also extended condolences to the other families affected by the tragedy.

Authorities have identified the suspect in the shooting as Jesse Strang. Reports state that the incident left seven children dead and at least 25 others injured. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to gather details surrounding the events.
