Reggie Wade wishes a happy birthday to his late daughter, Genises Nova, who was killed by her mother, Reid Adrienne Vanessa.

Authorities have confirmed that 2-year-old Genesis Reid has died following a case that began with her disappearance late last year. Investigators say the child was killed on Christmas night, Dec. 25, 2025, shortly after returning home from visiting relatives.

According to police, the last time Genesis’ father spoke to her was during a FaceTime call arranged by her mother. He later learned that it was the final time he would see his daughter alive.

Investigators say surveillance footage from an apartment complex allegedly shows Genesis’ mother, Adrienne Reid, disposing of a duffle bag in a dumpster. Authorities believe the bag contained the toddler’s body along with some of her toys and personal belongings.

On what would have been Genesis’ third birthday on March 9, detectives formally charged Reid with capital murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with the child’s disappearance.

Officials say a large-scale search is now planned at a nearby landfill where the contents of the dumpster were taken. Investigators will use specialized equipment and modern recovery techniques, focusing on an area they have narrowed down to roughly 200 square feet. Due to the conditions of a landfill, authorities acknowledge the search for the child’s remains could be difficult.

Law enforcement agencies from outside the area, along with expert teams from Atlanta, are expected to assist with the operation.

Prosecutors say they intend to seek the death penalty if the case proceeds to trial. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue efforts to recover evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding Genesis’ death.
