A woman employed as a Community Police Forum (CPF) Patroller at Etwatwa Police Station has been arrested following a fatal stabbing that took place on the morning of Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 7:40 AM in Tsambo East, Barcelona Park, sparking widespread shock and outrage in the community.
According to information surrounding the incident, the suspect and the deceased were involved in a violent physical altercation believed to have been fueled by a dispute over a romantic relationship. The victim allegedly sustained fatal stab wounds to her back while attempting to flee the scene. Eyewitness Bongiwe recounted returning from a gathering in Tembisa when she heard a child screaming, prompting her to investigate and discover the victim on the ground. She alleges that upon being confronted, the suspect justified her actions by claiming the deceased had been pursuing her boyfriend.
A video circulating on social media shows the suspect seated beside the body of the deceased, visibly emotional. The footage has since gone viral, drawing intense reactions from communities across South Africa.
The victim's sister, Buyi Ntombela, described her sibling as a quiet and peaceful individual, expressing the family's deep shock and heartbreak over the devastating loss. Family members made their way to the crime scene, where emergency responders remained present as authorities conducted their investigation.
The fact that the suspect holds a position within the Community Police Forum has added a deeply troubling dimension to the case, with many community members questioning how someone entrusted with maintaining community safety could be involved in such a violent act.
A large scale police investigation is currently underway, and the case is expected to draw significant attention given the circumstances surrounding it.
