Her sister, Mahlaba, issued a public appeal calling for empathy and an end to the circulation of the video:

“Good afternoon South Africa. The woman in the trending video is my older sister. I would like to apologize on her behalf. She is not someone who engages in such behavior publicly — she was under the influence of something. As we speak, she is in the hospital fighting for her life.

This situation has damaged her self-esteem deeply, and I fear she may never fully recover. Please stop sharing the video and making fun of it. My sister is a married woman, and this is putting her marriage and mental health in great jeopardy.
