Authorities say a North Carolina couple was found dead inside their home in what investigators believe to be a murder-suicide, leaving a community shocked and two children without their parents.

According to the Waxhaw Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Prescott Glen Parkway around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, after receiving reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they discovered 49-year-old Inol Toussaint and 42-year-old Eusther Toussaint dead inside the home.

Investigators believe Inol shot his wife upstairs before going outside to the backyard, where he turned the gun on himself. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public, though the investigation remains active as authorities work with the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the medical examiner to complete autopsy and ballistic reports.

Police Chief Dexter Wilson described the case as a tragic act of domestic violence that has deeply impacted the community.

Officials urged anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help and reminded residents that support resources are available.

Eusther Toussaint worked as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner in cardiology with CaroMont Health at CaroMont Heart & Vascular in Gastonia.

According to her professional biography, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University and later obtained a master’s degree in nursing from Walden University.

Friends say she enjoyed spending time with her sons, cooking, and working on home improvement projects.

The couple were also connected to Assembly Master LLC, a local home-services company providing furniture assembly, home projects, and seasonal lighting throughout the greater Charlotte region.

Authorities confirmed the couple leave behind two children.

Officials are encouraging anyone experiencing domestic violence or who knows someone in danger to seek help through the National Domestic Violence Hotline or local support organizations.

The investigation into the tragic incident remains ongoing.
