VIDEO: Authorities Investigate After Elderly Man in Wilmington Found Wandering in Soiled Diaper; Sister Deborah Porter Accused of Mistreatment

An investigation has been launched in Wilmington, North Carolina following shocking footage that surfaced online showing an elderly man, identified as Brett, wandering outside his home on 7404 ERN Way dressed only in a soiled diaper and a T-shirt under what appears to be neglectful and demeaning conditions.

The video, filmed by neighbor Jonathan Maurice Pigford, shows him attempting to help the elderly man return safely to his residence. However, he was stopped by the man's caregiver, identified as his sister Deborah Porter, who intervened and directed the elderly man to walk in the opposite direction. When Pigford questioned her actions, Porter reportedly stated that she was "teaching him a lesson" — a response that has since drawn widespread condemnation from viewers across social media.

Pigford, whose follow-up video was included at the end of the original clip, explained that his primary motivation for filming and sharing the footage was not to embarrass anyone, but to ensure that his elderly neighbor is treated with the dignity and comfort he deserves. He confirmed that he has since contacted the relevant authorities to report the incident.

The footage has sparked outrage online, with many calling for immediate action to protect the vulnerable man. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the matter is now underway.
